Chad: Columbus, Ohio, United States; I was inspired to begin making early fretted instruments, by my ambition to play 18th century German lute music. My first lute, a 13 course based on J.C. Hoffmann, I completed in 2001. I soon realized that there were improvements to be made from my initial attempts and after a few years learning to play I decided to make more. My visual and tactile training from art school and my enthusiasm for the music contribute in my desire to build dynamic instruments that I hope inspire their players and enhance the performance for audiences.
